Our Purpose

People for the People is dedicated to fostering a compassionate and inclusive community where individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and experiences can connect, share, and support one another.

Our mission is to eliminate the stigma and shame surrounding mental health and substance use challenges by providing accessible opportunities for peer support, empowerment, and growth.

We aim to create safe spaces where everyone can find the understanding, connection, and resources they need to thrive.

Background

Kelly Martin and Kayla MacLellan teamed up together to create People for the People because they know what it is like facing mental health and recovery challenges when surrounded by people who don't understand.

They both have personal lived experiences with mental health disorders, substance abuse/dependency, and recovery along with the stigma attached to those issues.

Kelly is a Certified Peer Support Specialist and is currently in school for her Bachelor's in Psychology.

Kayla has her certification in Substance Abuse Counseling, and is graduating May 17, 2025 with her Bachelor’s in Psychology, minor in Criminal Justice from UW-Superior.
